Friends and fellow historical keyboard enthusiasts, welcome to the
Historical Keyboard Society Website.

I am honored and excited to be writing you as the first President of the Historical Keyboard Society of North America (HKSoNA).  On this site, we plan to have links to web pages, concerts, instruments for sale, summer courses, new CD’s, new publications; so, please send us your material, to hist...@gmail.com.

The Cincinnati Conference was an unqualified success!  Fantastic concerts, wonderful young players featured in the Jurow competition, fun new pieces in the Aliénor event, a fascinating continuo masterclass, interesting lectures, and an intimate organ crawl.  A big thank you to Vivian Montgomery for organizing our first stellar conference!  We are well on our way to our 2013 event, which will take place in Williamsburg, VA.  I hope to see many of you there next May.

It is very touching and moving for me to reminisce about who we are as a society, and how far we have come.  I just spent the weekend in Atlanta where I performed a concert.  George Lucktenberg [founder of SEHKS] was in attendance.  George was my first harpsichord teacher; I was still in high school.  A few years later (in 1982) he asked me to premier a piece for the first Aliénor competition. Later, I was asked to be a judge, and now… well, as you know, I run Aliénor as a non-profit.  George also recommended that I join SEHKS the minute we returned to America from our  studies in Holland.  That was 30 years ago!  In all of these years, I have missed just a couple of the SEHKS annual meetings (the first was the year our twins were born).  And, I know many of you who join us from MHKS had similar experiences over that organization’s history. We are family and I look forward to our future encounters and hope to inspire future generations as I have been inspired.  I hope to keep our society relevant and want people to want to be involved.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

All the very best,
Elaine Funaro, President, HKSNA
